Michael Sean Long

Mr Long, I was one of your 'goody-two-shoes' year 10 science students quite a few years ago now. My strongest memory of you was when I death-stared you at the beginning of the second science class you ever taught me, for giving me my very first 'amber' (warning) slip as I had, on that rare chance, forgotten to do my homework; I made sure you saw the daggers coming out of my eyes too. I also remember when you paired me up with another student to revolutionise the eradication of cane toads in Australia; upon presenting our solution, you kindly commented that it was "quite imaginative". Though your lessons and guidance may have been an ordinary chapter in my life, you have clearly left your mark; besides the amber slip being completely unnecessary, I would not have enjoyed learning science without copying keywords of your notes in colour and going through the revision booklets you so thoroughly created. My prayers and condolences are with you, the Long family, during this seemingly, unbelievably, tough time. May you all find peace and remember that the hope we have in Christ means that he has faithfully run his race, and you will one day see your loving father, husband, brother and son again.
